A Bird’s Eye View of Karnatak University, Dharwad

Karnatak University being the second oldest University in Karnataka is recognised for its potential by UGC and is categorised as a University with Potential for Excellence and accredited by NAAC as ‘A’ Grade. It is a hub of higher education and a pivot of traditional University in North Karnataka.That apart the University has earned 3.15 CGPA in NAAC assessment and has an H index of 64. The University has almost all major projects and programmes funded by various funding agencies like UGC, DST etc.

As per assessment made by Karnataka State Universities Rating Framework (KSURF), under the Established Universities, Karnatak University stands second among the State funded universities with a 3 Stars Rating and the Institute of IPL, Leiria has recognised our University as a valued International partner and has awarded our University a Certificate to that effect.

With regard to the Digital Initiatives, the University has been in the forefront and as informed earlier has 18 Digital Initiatives undertaken.

The University is known for its Innovations in teaching-learning and best practices. This includes teacher friendly learning, introduction of student fellowships, student journals, exchange programmes under Pavate Fellowship, MoU with Cambridge University, award for Best Publication, MoUs with International Institutions like IPL Leiria, Charite University of Berlin etc.

The University prides itself for its e-governance initiatives and regular inhouse training for teaching and non-teaching staff including Faculty Development Programmes under UGC-Human Resource Development Centre.

Our University Science and Instrumentation Centre (USIC) provides an ambience for updated research experiment with state of art technology. Workshop for students in Writing Skills, Research Methodology courses only makes the University unique.

University’s involvement with the community under the slogan “Campus to Community” is an exclusive programme that focuses University engagement with an adopted village ‘Mansur’; this distinguishes the University from the rest. Automatic Weather Station (AWS) in collaboration with ISRO, Fishermen Guidance Bureau are examples of our concerns for society. Our Initiation at MOOCs, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan through NSS, National Integration programmes through Foundation lecture series and Peethas – specialized studies of Social Reformers and Philosophers places this University in a distinguished position.

Legal Literacy campaigns and continuous evaluation through Academic and Administrative Audit (AAA), transparent administration and student friendly atmosphere makes this University a hybro centre of learning. Our Best practices infact are models in themselves. However, the University is continuously striving hard to work be the ‘best’ and working less.
